September floods kill 24, sicken 217,000
23 cases of illegal activities filed in the morning(BangkokPost.com) - Heavy flooding across Thailand during the past 24 days from September 11 to October 4 injured and sickened 217,308 people and drowned 24 others, according to Public Health spokesman Suphan Srithamma.The spokesman said the Ministry of Public Health is carrying on aiding the flood-hit people in the country even though the overall situation in many areas has improved. He said the medical units are taking care of the people’s health while preventing epidemics from occurring.One out of five people who fell ill from flooding suffered from athlete’s foot and rashes, followed by flu. No epidemics were reported yet, Md Suphan added.
