February CCI drops to 70.9
The consumer confidence index (CCI) for February went down from 71.9 in January to stand at 70.9, the first decline in four months.
The drop in the was caused mainly by the ongoing political problems, director of the Economic and Business Forecasting Centre at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thanawat Polwichai, said on Thursday morning.
The job opportunity confidence index for the month was 69.9 and the future income confidence index stood at 94.7, he added.
According to Mr Thanawat, the positive factors included the last quarter of 2009 GDP growth figure which was reported to have expand for the first time in nearly a year by 5.8 per cent by the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) and the office?s revision of GDP growth projection for 2010 at 3.5-4.5 per cent, the 31.4 per cent export expansion in Jan and the injection of more monmey into the system under the Thai Khem Khaeng stimulus scheme.
